psu decision
was originally going to get the corsair rm1000x psu but considering getting the rm850x instead to save a little money and because the rm1000x is out of stock but the motherboard i intend to get (MSI B850 EDGE TI) uses 2 8 pin power connectors and 1 8 pin pcie power connector for additional power, the rm1000x had connectors for the 2 power connectors and 4x pcie so enough for a 3x8 pin gpu and 1 x8 pin for the motherboard pcie but the rm850x only has 3 pcie connections, is it worth waiting for the rm1000x to come back in stock or will the rm850x be ok.

connectivity is important .. for every connector you plug it should be a straight shot to the psu with no intermediate adapters to minimize voltage drop ..

You'll be fine to use the pigtailed pcie for the mobo cpu power without issue, nothing that makes sense to fit on the board will pull too much power anyway.

weird that the manual doesnt say anything about it
may only be needed when the lower pci-e slots are populated

like how many early boards with the eps connector did not need it

yeah not sure if i should just wait for the rm1000x to come back in stock and pay the extra.

although i just noticed the 9070 xt powercolor red devil says "Minimum System Power requirement 900 w", so it sounds like i should go for the 1000w just in case.

850 Watt is not futureproof

amd and nvidia have to recommend higher for other unknown hardware

newer cpus are also much higher tdp, and if you have lots of other stuff it needs to cover that too
fans ~2-5w ea, hdd 10w ea, wc/clc pump ~20w, usb devices upto 10w ea, sound card or other pci cards who knows upto 75w to each pci slot

higher wattage psu will also keep it in a more efficient range, will run slightly cooler and have more overhead for the future

so yea get the rm1000x/e if you can

Corsair is doing some strage things with their PSU offer recently. RM1000x has 10 years warranty. RM1000e caosts 40EUR less (in NL) but has only 3 years warranty. These are NOT the same PSU. Not even similar. Be attentive, double check what you buy.

NOTE: You can easily build a PSU which has GOLD efficiency rating from cheap/poor quality components. The difference is, they will loose their parameters after couple of years. Extended warranty period is your base indicator of the PSU quality. (as usual, it's never 100% reliable)

so it looks like i will wait for the rm1000x to come back in stock then.thanks
Just dont cheap on PSU please...
Those who cheap will pay twice, or even more..
80+ gold or silver... or platinum if you have "excess" money.

80+ is easily faked
85+ is 100% fake

both the rm1000 e and x are 80+ gold
only real diff is the x has 6x pci-e power connectors, and e has 4

e has 7 yr warranty not 3
and x has 10, but really if its going to make it 7 it will make it 10

They are totally different units, the X is a better unit made by CWT where the E unit has a more budget HEC I think it was inside, different quality caps used.

Seasonic Prime but you will need to get your wallet out for one of them.
