Bad performance, input lag and bad mouse tracking with wayland in games and even on desktop
Why devels start to drop xorg on gnome/kde if wayland not good anyway.

Because they are cognitively blind. And they do not care to see. If they continue to ignore these problems, Wayland will kill the Linux desktop.:steamsad:

For me it’s the other way around. Most distros with X11 lock me to 60fps, no HDR no VRR.
What’s the point in picking Mint when it’s more difficult to setup your screens and still no way to get HDR?

Good distros give two options out of the box or easy to donwload and integrate both.

I think Gnome dropped X11 completely so nothing to do with distros.

I think you posted this in the wrong place. You probably wanted the Linux steam forums over here: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/app/221410/discussions/

Doesn't work for me out of the box any more.
Tested on OpenSuSE: wayland vs X11.

https://ibb.co/NgrD97WN - SuSE X11 DisplayPort (60Hz max - no VRR, no HDR support)
https://ibb.co/VWJ5pRF9 - SuSE X11 HDMI (4K120Hz, no VRR, No HDR)
https://ibb.co/93mVvzQJ - SuSE Wayland DP (full specs 4K120Hz, VRR, HDR)

HDMI2.1 is already a challenge for AMD due to licence problems.
However, I can still make it work and achieve seemingly impossible.
Full HDMI 2.1 specs on AMD GPU.

So Wayland is the only option for me personally.

Amd, nvidia and intel gpus got the same issue. This is only wayland problem. Wayland are not for gaming.

read {LINK FJERNET}, vrr working on debian, manjaro with xfce with DP. HDR not supported on xorg and i dont use HDR even on windows. HDR useless feature.
Steam delete links to archwiki, ahahahh, but valve use archlinux on steam deck. What a shame valve. You can find VRR on archwiki page.

What is your argument?
Why should I use X11 over Wayland?

SteamOS and almost any other distro have both installed by default. One popular exception is Mint where until the latest update I had FreeSync over HDMI working fine. It stopped working when installing new version. I’m pretty sure I could fix it but why should I bother?

Also why I shouldn’t like playing on a gaming TV via HDMI and with HDR on? HDR on Linux looks fantastic and much better for me than on Windows.

Is that your argument for SteamOS and gaming distros to drop Wayland support? Pro players use Linux with X11 only? Are you a pro?
Did you remove Wayland support from your distro? Why exactly?
