game play
my games worked well until the end of August. Then any game was slow and lagging in all respects. It was strange that I could not play new games because supposedly the graphics card was wrong. I tried everything and found nothing worked no matter if I was trying to fix things in microsoft or steam. Then last week it started running properly and I gave up trying to fix it a month or so ago. Now, the same problem came back this week. I'm thinking steam is screwing around with programming to cause the problem. Or, it could be microsofts update but I don't know what to do about it more than what I've done.

Dunno dude, start with the basics I guess, make sure GPU and other drives are up to date, maybe grab the latest drivers for the motherboard from the official web site.
List the spec and OS used.

did windows do an update?
it may have reverted all drivers to its generic ones

reinstall the correct drivers from the mobo mfg or oem sites
Install CPUz and run the validator; then post the results link here so people can see what hardware you have and how it's configured.

Then also; provide some actual specific details on what your actual issue is and what specifically you tried/did when attempting to resolve the issue.

"slow and lagging in all respects" doesn't actually tell us anything about what problem you could be having.

"I tried everything and found nothing worked"; is by definition false because if you had in fact "tried everything" then it would be working as expected. Broad generalizations like this don't help people understand what you've actually done in order to be able to try to point you in a productive direction to actually resolve your issue.

Be as specific as possible in describing what you've actually done. Such as "I changed my BIOS setting for my memory to enable XMP profile 1 and then saved BIOS settings and restarted"; etc.

When troubleshooting an issue make changes 1 at a time and then test that change.

Would your rig need a good cleaning? Are the fans working as expected? Run HWinfo and check the temperatures of the several components.
Desktop or Laptop?

What's the max Temp *C for CPU & GPU under high loads?

Do you have 2x GPUs?
