Logitech G502 middle mouse button clicks but doesnt register the button press
First off let me say this is my all time favorite mouse. Such a great model that ive only replaced once because i just wanted a newer one, however ive always noticed the weakest link in these mice is the middle mouse button. On both of mine clicking worked fine for a while, a year at best, but after that MMB works less and less. To the point where it just doesnt work anymore, ive gotten around it by remapping the scroll left (by pushing the wheel to the left) to MMB but even this is beginning to be spotty after a bit. Any tips or suggestions or even something i might be missing to try making MMB work better outside of disassembly?

looks like it uses an odd style button for the middle click (sw3)

a kit like this has some, but they are not easy to replace

not through hole to line it up, just 4 solder pads,
its in kind of a tight spot,and surface mount, if not clean when you install,
and cant use heat gun, it will just melt the switch,

if its not be flat to the board, it may not press correctly

a new g502 on amazon is $40

thats cheaper than a tech shop would charge to repair it

The hero is not the same quality as the g502 proteus.i bought a hero when they first came out and rma it twice due to dbl click issues on the hero on the third time i asked them to replace with any other mouse they wouldnt do it so i scrapped the hero and went and found another proteus on amazon paid 70.00 worth every penny.not sure if the new 502 is any good but the hero is pure trash.you can still find them on amazon but you'll pay for it WORTH IT IMO.

Just open the mouse and replace the switches. It's not hard.

WTF does anyone even use the MMB for anyways? It's so annoying to have that as a button in games when you're probably going to be using the scroll wheel alot

it depends on the game, games like Baldurs Gate are nice to use MMB to rotate the camera, as well as a lot of RTS games, although i do agree its kind of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ button to use. For instance the default control to aim in Space Marine 2 is MMB for SOME ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason.
