or maybe add a small ssd for dual boot
(ide-sata adapters are cheap if the board doesnt have sata ports, and 1t or smaller sata ssds are dirt cheap too)
this ide-sata adapter has master/slave jumper so you can use it with another drive on the ide chain (one drive set to master, other to slave, or both to cs if using 80pn cable)

and check for mobo and other drivers for xp
it has some changes, but most can be set to look and work like win 9x
and any game for win 9x and dos can work on xp
vmware or virtualbox
some games need win9x like nhl98. it wrote directly to the video card back then
