Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti fan problem
Hi,

Anyone here, suffering from a painful Start/stop noisy weird fan behaviour on Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti, or other RTX, different brand, ref etc ?

I have been struggling to try to solve this problem for weeks now...

Different drivers, different games, same problem occurs : randomly but very often, the RTX activates a short boost of the fans (or one of the fan), something like 2000 RPM to 4500 during few seconds, then back to normal.... It's really noisy and sudden.

During the phenomenon, the perf remains the same, just noisy as if someone activates a hair dryer each 3 minuted during 5 seconds lol 😤😩🤯😵😡🤬🥴🙀🤦‍♂️

PS : I am not the only one to encounter this problem, I see that reading the US and FR Gigabyte's forums...

If anyone has some tips about this, ...

Thx 😞😩

Did you properly configure the fan curve with a program like MSI afterburner?

Thx,

I try this in Aero, the soft of Gigabyte.... without success...

If it works fine whatever the brand of the card.... I'll try too...

EVGA Precision has this function ?

(Sorry for my noob question)

For NVIDIA cards, the only software worth using is MSI Afterburner.

EVGA software only works proper on evga gpus anyways. Buy even as I've used many evga gpus over the years, MSI Afterburner is always the best around gpu control software.

I recommend sending the card in for RMA warranty service. I had this pulsing fan issue with other hardware and there was nothing I could do to fix it except replacing the fan. If it's under warranty, use it and have the manufacturer fix it for you.

Hello. I have a problem with the EVGA RTX 2080 XC Ultra. The RGB lights also burned out and the fans stopped working, reaching 100°C without turning them on. I tried an old driver (556.12-desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql) and they worked again, but if I update the drivers, they stop working and are not recognized. I sent a message to Nvidia and they told me it is not their fault. But indeed, it is the drivers. I hope they fix it, otherwise we will have to forget about updating the drivers and not be able to use the GPU.

Probably should of started a new thread relating to your issue Iver necroing an unrelated 5 year old thread, but, you aren't gaining anything from updating your drivers these days anyway.

Nvidia is sort of right, their drivers don't control the fans, that's an issue with evga's software, so you might want to try your luck with them though, they have long since stopped making cards, so your mileage may vary.

On a minor upside, your cards getting on a bit now, so it's probably worth you looking to upgrade soon anyway as your performance has dropped off a cliff in new games since you bought the card.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
