Steam client - Java version.
I with pleasure would use Java the Steam version. Whether its development will begin sometime?

Ugh I hate Java so much. Its updates always screw everything up.

And why should the Steam client work on Java?
We already have a Windows, Mac, and soon a Linux Version. And mobile apps for Android an iOS... Don't see the need for a Java-specific app.
Java just works... everywhere, every OS. And its backward compatible with stuff written in earlier versions of java. Also all the dev tools are free.
As a developer though you can get sloppy with memory leaks since the JVM will protect you, but thats no excuse, the profiling tools are free too.

They're not going to rewrite Steam from scratch in Java. That's a really terrible idea, just by itself. It's also precluded by the fact that Steam has to continue to provide the Steamworks API to games, and that's a C++ API.
