System Specs in Profile
I remembered playing around with xfire back when I played a ton of Halo: PC and one of the features that was rather interesting was that on the profiles there was a system specs section. XFire was even able to scan your system and automatically put your system specs there. I think it would be a great addition to Steam if one could have Steam scan their system and add their specs to their profile. Maybe there could even be a way to have multiple system specs if someone plays their games on multiple computers. What does everyone think of this? Good, bad Idea? Would you use it?

I don't see myself using that. It just makes the page take longer to load.
What on earth would that accomplish? Catastrophically terrible idea.

I would certainly like to know which machines have been validated by Steam Guard and be able to individually unvalidate machines I've never used, replaced (clean install of windows, etc), or were from... somewhere else(TF2outpost, etc). Adding a nice "log me off of that other machine" button would be nice. No real need to show me system specs unless that can be added cheap.
Oh, and this would be info shown only to myself. Maybe a checkbox on the settings dialog to show/hide this info, but the rest of the world doesn't need an up to the second report of my machine (Its still a Pentium4, 2GB RAM, etc).

Or you could just put it in manually on your steam profile and stop being a lazy sod...lol Steam already snapshots the hardware used by people for its published statics... but fail to see how it's all that useful other than for Steam to follow hardware trends, the average joe doesnt need that.
