Group achievements into three categories: Launch, Post-Launch, and DLC.
It's frustrating for achievement hunters when there is a post-launch update which adds more achievements. Having all of a game's achievements on launch isn’t considered a “Perfect Game” / “100% complete” anymore. Likewise, if a game adds achievements tied to DLC, your only way to get 100% again is to buy the DLC.

Even if it isn't called a "Perfect Game" anymore, there should be a similar distinction to recognize a user's efforts.

I think it's up to the developers on how they set it up, not Valve. I've a few games that are still considered a perfect game, since don't have the DLC.

I disagree. Many developers put out significant content updates with post-launch content. They naturally want to add an achievement or two to coincide with that content update.

Look at Playstation & their trophy system. They don't just take away a Platinum Trophy after it has been earned. They even group achievements separately for the base game versus DLC, and only grant the Platinum Trophy for securing all base game trophies.

Saying "it's up the developers" isn't a good answer because the developers face some inherent motivation to add more achievements. Grouping those achievements like Playstation would allow them to add those achievements without actually affecting the completionists.

Just wanna second this. Even adding categories so I know which ones are DLC would be good. Which afaik there isn't a way to do for devs besides making the icons a set.
