Using more than 1 computer
I have a steam account and have installed steam on a few computers.
I have a computer I use exclusively for flight sims and creating animation videos.
My other 2 computers I use for every day stuff and gaming.

The problem I encounter is if I need to update my flight sims I have to run them to install updates and purchases. While doing these upgrades/updates I cannot use steam on my other computers to play a game. Some of these updates can take as much as 2 hours depending on what all is involved.

I would like you to do an update t allow using more than 1 computer to access and open games if one requires a major update.

This was the answer from Steam support:

Hello,

I understand your sentiments regarding your concern.

However, please note that currently it's not possible to run games while using one account in multiple computers, we do not have this kind of feature.

yes, but if you are online with the one you are updating with and go offline mode on the other one you can play a game on the one you are offline
You can probably go offline with the flight simulator one as well - it sounds like the updates aren't coming through Steam, and offline mode only affects Steam, not anything the game is connecting to outside of Steam.

Both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 update through Steam and with 2024 you have to be logged into your Microsoft account as well as Steam.

Tried putting the computer with the flight sims on offline mode. Neither MSFS 2020 or 2024 will load. 2024 was on the loading screen for over 1 hour before I stopped it.
Put Steam in online mode and both started and updated perfectly.

On the other pc, I put Steam in offline mode but you cannot update any game that needs it. You have to be in online mode to do updates.
In offline mode you cannot access any friends so playing against a friend is not possible. Some other features are unavailable as well.

Defeats what I want to do.
what you want is a managed hub or router with bandwidth and ip priorities to solve the download issue of bandwidth.

if you want to play more than 1 game at a time on the same account.. GOOD LUCK
i cant even take my handheld and play something else on steam.. even tho i am right next to my other pc..

if i worked at steam i would have solved this issue with use verification.

Not how it works.
None of that has anything to do with this OP thread.
OP wants to use their account on multiple devices at the same time, but Steam does not work that way.

You can only be online on 1 device at a time to prevent users from lending out their account to others.
You can be in OFFLINE mode on as many devices as you want, but if the game requires you to be online, then you cannot play it unless the game has its own separate launcher to login from.

Thanks. I agree.

I know you can do regular updates on games in online mode on multiple computers but you can't run games on both at the same time.
Some games also run updates once you load/start the game so you can't do that.

I understand the not wanting user to let others use their accounts but there should be some way to check.
When I run Netflix it tells me what devices I own that has it on them and even lets me run Netflix on multiple devices at the same time. You can have 1 person watch a tv show or a movie on say their smart tv and another watch a different movie or series on their laptop. Netflix requires you to verify that device belongs to you.
Steam should look into how Netflix runs their system.
