They are the same achievement. Achievements are just added on to the game to extend and encourage longer play time.
Steam cannot monitor this as they donot have any control over the games.
Games are owned by the developers and publishers that list the games on Steam.
If you want make changes to the games ask in that games Discord or discussion hub and point it out to the devs, Good luck :)
As you rightly pointed out, achievements serve to extend gameplay and encourage longer playtimes. However, my proposal to Valve is to offer developers the option, when adding achievements, to designate whether they are attainable through single-player or multiplayer gameplay. This would provide additional clarity to players and enhance their gaming experience without infringing upon developers' ownership of their creations. Also I can show you tons of games in which achivements have description that if it is multiplayer or not.
Nobody is stopping the developers now from calling that detail out in the achievement description.
For example. Any New Game Plus or DLC related achievements aren’t apart of the Platinum grind, they’re there own category.
Why cant Steam just copy that exact same format?
The answer hasn't changed when you came to dig up this thread; the devs simply want money.
It's not that complicated.
Obviously the issue is for people who enjoy getting 100% completion in games. If you don't find that interesting that's fine. Some people like going for the platinum trophy as it's called on PSN for a sense of fulfillment and as a badge of honor on their profile to display to others and look back at.
The issue is when games have multiplayer grinds in these achievements. Now you rely on other people to achieve it and in some cases the game servers might be down for old games. It changes the dynamic completely and can make getting some literally impossible.
If Steam allowed the developers to "tick a box" when creating these achievements to specify they are multiplayer, the could then be not included in getting the 100%. That would solve the issue for people who like to grind 100%.
For example, I was thinking of finally getting to 100% Ghosts of Tsushima and then I realized a good number of the achievements require playing the multiplayer DLC, which is a bit frustrating.
As I said before, it might not matter to you at all but there's certainly a significant portion of people who would appreciate a feature along these lines. Many people enjoy the process of systematically working through a game to complete these challenges and the right to display it on their profile for their friends when they finish.
