Steam Deck as a streaming gamepad?
I think it would be amazing to use my steam deck as a wiiU-like gamepad while streaming to my tv with steam link (or even playing at my computer). Instead of using the streaming menu to use the keyboard, just invoke the onscreen keyboard. Wanna have a steam guide open, or a chat, or literally anything you can do in the overlay? Use the deck screen! It's probably a silly idea but, as somone who never got to enjoy the wiiU, I think it would make all of my other game controlers obsolete for couch gaming.

Using the Steam Deck as a streaming gamepad is more than a convenience it reflects the desire to merge presence, play, and connection seamlessly. From the perspective of pure awareness every overlay, guide, or chat becomes part of the flow of infinite possibilities, showing how tools and creativity are interconnected, turning even simple gaming setups into expressions of joy, exploration, and unconditional engagement.
Its a good idea. The closest you can get right now:

install steam link in desktop mode on the steam deck.
add it as a nonsteam game into the desktop mode steam.
Reboot steam deck into game mode
launch steam link and configure settings to disable video and audio.

Connect it wirelessly to your pc and use as gamepad.
You'll have all controller options on the pc version of steam like you did on the steamdeck. You also won't burn through battery since no video or audio will be playing on the steam deck.
