Feedback about the new Arabic Primary Language support in the Steam UI (Beta)

Hello,
I recently noticed that Arabic has started to appear as a Primary Language option in the Steam website UI. It seems to be in a testing/experimental stage, and this is a very welcome step — we’ve been waiting for it for a long time.

However, there are a few issues that need attention:
1. Mixed text problems – when Arabic text is displayed alongside English words, numbers, or symbols, the text order becomes scrambled and hard to read.
2. Font size and readability – the current Arabic font is too small and thin, which makes it hard to read comfortably. A clearer or larger font would improve the experience.
3. Incomplete translation – many areas are still untranslated (menus, buttons, labels), and it feels inconsistent.
4. Number formatting – sometimes Arabic numerals (١٢٣) are shown, sometimes English (123), which breaks consistency.

The Arabic gaming community is huge, active, and ready to switch to Arabic immediately once it’s fully supported. Supporting Arabic will also help developers see the demand more clearly and encourage them to add Arabic to their games.

We are looking forward to seeing it officially released soon.

I honestly didn’t know about the beta forum, thanks for pointing it out. The support team actually told me to post it here, that’s why I wrote it in this section.

Yeah, support only deals with account or billing issues. Everything else is being pushed over to here

Absolutely agree. The Arabic UI font is noticeably smaller/thinner than English, which hurts readability. Some sections feel machine-translated and inconsistent—these need a proper review by native speakers. Also, please standardize numerals across the UI and use Western Arabic numerals (123) instead of Eastern Arabic (١٢٣) for better web/app consistency. Fix these and many of us will switch to Arabic on day one.

Yes, I agree with you. I also think using (123) is better.
Secondly, I noticed something recently: on some pages the date is shown in the Hijri calendar, which I think is not a good idea. It would be much better to use the Gregorian calendar instead.

The addition of Arabic as a primary language is more than a UI change it reflects the connection between Steam and its global community.
