Request: less abusive moderation
Ironically this is not going to affect (much) Valve's moderators as they are already doing what I'm going to suggest; this applies more to publishers, developers and moderators, officers they appointed. What I think should be mandatory :

1) when locking a discussion clearly state the reason. A comment from who moderates is needed in order to flag the lock on a discussion; if the comment is removed the lock is also void.

2) when deleting a comment clearly state the reason and who deleted it. Deleting a comment is only possible after filing a proper reasoning.

This way the user that feel abused may have a better way to counter the situation.
At the same time should avoid that some who moderate abuse of their power too lightly.

Typically a reason is stated, take for example this comment. Beyond that it is simply up to moderation how topics are locked and opened as that is their tasks, not the user's.

A reason does not have to be given for locking a thread nor for deleting a comment, and it is not abuse to do so as it is part of a moderators role.

No such thing as “abusive moderation”.

You have no rights here. Play nice.
I think the mods are fine. It's a gaming forum, not the Senate. You can't go saying anything you want without consequences.

"Post deleted for not following the discussions guidelines"
And that's it.

We're not getting a full statement into the details of what took the deletion and lock of every single thread and post. Templates were invented for a reason.
