Pay-Pal Payement blocked
Why not simply allow you to choose the currency you want to pay with on Steam? We're required to pay with our country's currency. We should be able to choose the currency we want to pay with.

Personally, it's always bothered me to pay with my country's currency; it results in bank fees for sending abroad, whereas if I could pay in dollars, I wouldn't have this problem.

And that would solve the problem with PayPal.

Personally, for the time being, I'm going to stop buying on Steam.

Why pay in dollars when you can pick much cheaper currencies to pay?
And if I pay with the currency of the company's country, I won't have any bank charges.

We can't choose the currency we want to pay in, that's Steam's problem.

If you know of a way to change the currency we want to pay in, please explain it because I haven't found it.

You pay in the currency according to the billing address.
It is certainly not an unreasonable ask. This is a fully digital process in a business that operates globally. Being able to select currencies when actual paper is not involved in any step of the process and every company involved in the transaction is capable of transacting that money should not be a big ask.

That's a you problem. I can't go across the street to the store and pay in a different currency. Why should Steam? I have one of those old Iraqi dinar notes with Saddam Hussein on it. I'm fairly certain that not even Iraq will honor that one.

And you won't. You pay your currency.

You have to pay in the currency for where your bank card is, as that will be were the payment processor is located in.
Many international companies offer this option. And I always choose the currency of the company's country for the reasons explained.

I don't understand why Steam doesn't offer it. Especially with the new PAY-PAL issue blocking certain currencies on Steam.

To combat things like fraud, you pay in the currency based upon your billing address, which closes old flaws in their systems where some users would pretend to be from turkey to get games for next to nothing.
Many international companies just do currency conversion.
I never mentioned changing the country of purchase, but being able to choose the payment currency, which is completely different.

They already have the country when they register.

If someone registers their account under Canada, it wouldn't make much sense for that person to use Japanese yen as their currency since that would be related to Japan, not Canada. The alternative is paypal that allows you to do such things however as you stated they are blocked in your region which is nothing Valve can resolve for you.

It also wouldn't make much sense for an international purchasing platform that handles all these sorts of currencies to refuse JPY because of the IP address of the purchaser. Far less sense in fact.

The beverage store across the street won't let me pay in Pesos, or Kroner, or Yen, or Real. We are in the same country, why won't they take my non-USD money?
I've certainly seen some turnip on Steam before, but thanks for comparing like with like.

When I buy my discs on a well-known Japanese site, during payment I have the choice between several currencies: Yen, Dollars, Euro and the currency of my country.

Sometimes an idea just falls under, "If Valve wanted to do this, they would." And if other stores do it, it may not be an argument for Steam to change. It might be an argument for you to shop at those stores instead.

And if no PC gaming stores do that.... well there you go. Or if you'd rather use Steam despite lacking features you want, well, there you go again. You've just shown that it's a lot of work for no real benefit. And the implementation may be more complex than you're aware of. Which would mean a lot of work, for no benefit, why do it?

That is impossible... so many people on this forum insisted it was super ultra triple illegal to ever consider doing that and that it was NECESSARY to combat fraud... It simply cannot be!!!

Only people without a lot of experience or familiarity with Valve think this. It is called Valve Time for a reason after all.
