Allow multiple external payment methods
While I find the online safety act to be a bit of a farce, going the credit card route is the best option for age verification by far, however Steam only allows one external payment method. This presents a bit of a problem if you want to verify your age but prefer to pay using a debit card.

One solution for this would be to make the age verification a one time thing per account, but there's an opportunity here to more generally improve UX. Not supporting multiple external payment methods is something Steam has lagged behind on versus other ecommerce sites such as Amazon and it's something I've had friction with on here in the past when I want to purchase some games on credit and others on debit. It feels like with this most recent change it's the right time to directly address this limitation.

they are adding more ways to verify that dont need a credit card but they didnt give a time scale for when that will happen.

That's useful, but equally I don't particularly like the idea of having to upload my ID or something like that, credit card is a nicer approach imo

To be honest I'm more just using this situation as a way of justifying a fix to a bit of UX that has annoyed me for some time lol

you dont have to do anything of course.. valve added credit card only as a quick way to abide by the rules.

ofcom lists what id can be used to verify if you dont want to use any on the list then thats cool its only blocking porn games it not like you have to verify, 99.99% of games will still be available

Yeah of course, I have that stuff filtered out of my store anyways, as I say I'm just trying to justify fixing an already annoying part of the UX now that more people are likely to care
And of course there's always the chance that at some point down the line this does get expanded to more generally include 18+ rated games too, so I'd rather the experience be smooth in advance of that
