Telemetry, but anonymous, Windows/Linux/Mac
Please include an option to send telemetry, usage data, and automatic errors, but optional in Steam Client.
Collect errors, whether in Steam, games, the kernel, Proton, Drivers etc.
So that the steam client can do this task automatically, and explains it in developer language, and fixes bugs even faster, with accurate, but anonymous, data.
Success always

NO! Steam is a storefront, and a game launcher. Bloated enough as is.
People won't believe it is anonymous
we already give them the right to use/gather this data for their service in the eula

every time you log in it registers what you are using

every error that the steam client gets is going to generate a log somewhere

even the pop up we see about the system stats is just so they can publicly use it
Steam already collects anonymous crash reports for games. (At least, very old games like mine - https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/error_reporting)

The Steam Hardware Survey already collects anonymized system information.

Developers have their own crash reporting systems nowadays. Both Unity and Unreal handle that on their own without needing to talk to the store.

If developers want to collect aggregated stats, they can use the aggregated stats feature.

I'm amazed someone wants the furries at Valve to have kernel access.

Doesn't necessarily mean kernel access; OP could mean analysis of crash dumps, though a kernel crash dump would be of little use to Valve unless it was one of their own drivers that crashed.

You don't need kernel level access for this either...

I find the quote and the name of the person rather ironic. But yes you are right.
