Please dont ban players when steam has sync error
Banned for an hour because of desync into offline mode. I did nothing wrong. Now dont have time to play a game before bed.

Also Valve needs something that scans chatlogs before chat banning. If players are frustrated they will report for chat abuse even if there's none. (dota 2)

This is a wrong forum for things like these
The system cannot tell the difference between you losing Internet connection or you rage quitting.

Both things look the exact same to the system.

Also, it's not a ban, it's a cool down.
If it was a ban, you would have red text on your profile page saying you have a game ban, since you don't have this it is not a ban.

a) Wrong forum. This forum is for suggestions pertaining Steam itself, not for games.
b) Tell me how you can with 100% certainty distinguish the following events on a client entirely from the server side: Power loss, pulled the plug, client crash, ISP sided issues. Spoiler: You can't. The system can't distinguish between intention and accident. Therefore, in a purely competitive environment, it is in your sole responsibility to ensure internet connectivity and system stability.

Profile pages only list game bans that are permanent if memory serves.

All Game bans are permanent.

Cooldowns/VAC errors =/= bans

Valve does not agree. I am only referring to Valve's own terminology here and they do say temporary game bans exist. Have a look at Valve's policy on the issue at the link below:

https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/46DB-4CEC-F7E9-49E5

"The duration of the game ban is determined by the developer. Only permanent game bans are displayed on the user’s profile. Temporary game bans, or suspensions, are not displayed."

Granted, OP's issue is not specifically about the game ban mechanism.

In-game "bans" are effectively just cooldowns, not actual bans.

Yeah, referring to everything as a ban is sloppy and ambiguous. Bans are punitive. Not every restriction a user might trigger is punitive. People need to look at the bigger picture, not just how they feel about it.
