Private games should not show up as recommended on the steam store front page
Currently, if you have a game marked as private but also have a positive review for said game, your steam friends may see on the front page that you recommend this game. I think this runs counter to how "mark as private" works, which is usually to hide the game from your friends and activity.

I'm not asking for a way to make the review itself private; if I'm leaving a review I'm expecting it to be seen on the specific page for that game. But I don't want it being randomly shown to my friends who are looking at the store front page.

All I'm asking is for steam to check whether a user has marked a game as private before it shows "[Friend] recommended this game!" on the front page of the steam store, then not display that recommendation if it is marked private. Nothing else. The reviews can remain viewable everywhere else.

"Steam does not know" Why don't you explain what you mean? Someone programmed this function into the client/store page to put recommendations on the front page based on what your friends have reviewed positively. Believe it or not, I don't spend all day studying the inner workings of steam. Change your tone.
