Do you think that's okay?
Odd if that's all you said but I'm sure there's more to the story you're not telling us. Either way it's only 3 days so don't worry about it. I got a 2 day ban on the Ori and the Blind Forest forum years ago for telling someone they were bad at the game back when we had volunteer Moderators but it didn't bother me, I was being a bit rude anyway. Again Idk your full story but I find it hard to believe a Moderator would ban you just for saying that. Why not contact support to get to the bottom of it?
Most likely, as I doubt just that sentence did it.
I don't know if it's an automated system responding to mass reporting by people who're using discord groups to direct mass-reports or what, but there is a very real and growing issue with how Steam is handling moderation.
The post I was responding to, which I know for a fact was reported, still remains live and untouched.
Yes, the post in my profile is, I'd agree, borderline. But the fact it got deleted, which means a mod absolutely did see the post I was responding to, and yet the one calling people terrorists that want to burn their house down didn't get any sort of response, is indicative of, at the absolute very least, willful ignorance, if not full on open bias on the part of the moderation team.
My most recent ban was also even more out of left field. It had a line in there that, out of context, COULD be seen as a ToS violation, but only if taken completely out of context. Suggesting that the moderator didn't actually read the post, and just decided to let the automated system do their job.
I have another friend who got a 3 day hub ban and a two week community wide ban for literally nothing, which he appealed and got overturned about 12 hours later with no comment from the moderation team.
Again, there's something wrong here, and Steam needs to start addressing it.
I understand that the patterns of Steam's moderation can seem a little strange, so do note I come at this only from a place of objective observation of their patterns, which I have spent more time than almost anyone else on this forum trying to empirically observe and deduce to some degree of predictability, and their stated rules rather than any standard of personal judgment.
No one is required to keep you around.
You entered the game devs space, said something they didn't like, and got banned from THEIR SPACE.
They are. But there’s two sides to that. Devs/mods who are too ban happy should get used to having less people playing and/or paying for their products-particularly if they’re just starting out.
(See the recent Ship of Heroes situation for an extreme version of this).
Absolutely ban the trolls and the bigots-by and large, only other trolls and bigots want them around-but if devs/mods can’t take constructive criticism of their product, they might be in the wrong business.
