More effective refund system
Refunded a game during the sales period, the value will be returned to the Steam Wallet within 7 days. The sales period for other games that are good for replacement ends in 3 days, there is a risk that the value will only return after the sale ends.

Wouldn't it be better a more automatic refund system by automatically checking usage and purchase time of the refunded game, returning the value immediately without waiting time?

Refund rules suggest an ease of refund, especially in the case of returns to the Steam Wallet, but the waiting time contradicts this.

Do not rely on refunds making it back in time within a sale. Use the money for something later instead.

Refunds are also not intended to demo games. For that, events like Steam Next Fest and demo/prologue versions made by the developers of the specific game exist.

If you have less than 2 hours playtime (the exe running) AND less than 2 weeks (14 days) since purchase, the refund is handled by an automated system.
It still takes time because there is a line of others who also requested refunds and the automated system has to check to make sure that the users requesting the refund meets the requirements for one.

And if you are sending the refund back to your payment method, then the time waiting is your bank/payment processor that is causing the hold up.

The process is already automated if a purchase hits the refund requirements of: WITHIN 2 weeks iof purchase AND with LESS than 2 hours playtime.

BUT:

During sale periods the amount of time a refund takes to procees extends due to there being numerous others refunding games.

There will always be another sale eventually, maybe even with better discount so simply wait for another sale.

Great, I activated the refund the day before yesterday, yesterday it was in pending return, today it's complete. One day of waiting from the pending status then.
Although I still think it should be faster.
