You can always create a rule or filter on your email to automatically handle those notifications when you get them.
I ended up resorting to creating a filter in my email client to delete them automatically.
That would be an alternative - if I wanted to filter out every single notification by Steam, which is not the case. There are some kinds of content I want to be notified about, just not the fact that I just gave someone else an award, which I already tend to know...
A filter on my end does not solve the problem.
No. Steam should notify me about things I want to be notified about. Emails about events I do not care about should be optional. I don't understand why you would argue that it's OK for Steam to force me to receive this kind of irrelevant message, which basically amounts to spam.
Also, money from my wallet and award points are not even remotely comparable. What are you on about there?
That said, an email filter can be more than just "everything from this address".
my filter looks for the address, and the word "award", so i still see every other email from steam.
