I have a client recommendation to propose. Discord has total platform integration for users: One can link Xbox, PSN and Steam accounts, and their in-game status is reflected. I think this should be the case for Steam as well, (where possible).

Another example is, if I'm online on both Xbox and Steam, (both accounts are linked), and I start playing a game on Steam, it will reflect that in my Xbox status. But the inverse is not true.

It obviously would not be reflected in Steam's "Recent Activity" on the user's profile as far as Steam games are concerned; Rather I think a banner to simply show "X User is In-Game "Ninja Gaiden 4" (Xbox)" could be useful to broadcast activity to disparate friends lists.

Users could opt-in or out via client linkage, or simply choose to appear invisible on Steam.
