Notes for individual games
Hey, it'd be great if we could have an option to scribble something down specific to a game for example, mods list or settings data and any other info in general that we shouldn't forget.

Say this option would be included in game library window, where when we click on game, it would show us game play time, all the navigation tabs (store, community etc) it should also show a notepad option where we can scribble things.

It just occurred to me because I often write down list of mods I play into sticky notes and I thought it'd be cool to have integrated notepad system, specific to game in Steam itself.

Not a bad idea, but not sure if Steam will add something so extra; they have plenty things to do and better ideas to implement. This can easily be done by user on a notepad program that every OS has included.

Its not what youre asking for, but I often suggest this as a stop gap.

Create a private group for yourself and use the messaging in the group as your notebook, accessible from the overlay via the Community tab.

I love this idea!
I often put games to the side, and when I come back to them I forget what I had to do next. A simple text field where I can say "head East to find shopkeeper's son" would come in handy. It could also be useful for marking down hints received from characters, cryptic messages, passwords, etc.

How long do those messages last? Because I know private messages between two people don't last more than a month

What is wrong about using Notepad++ or an Excel-Sheet?

Opening another program, choosing a file name that you'll remember, remembering where you saved it, loading it up the next time you play the game, deleting it when it's no longer relevant, etc. It's certainly possible, but it's a lot of hoops to jump through when a text box built into the client would be exponentially more convenient.

Saving to local drive only to lose it when you switch computers or format the PC, lost so much data over the years. I'd rather love to see integrated notepad, it'd be good to have one integrated into Steam itself.

I'm surprised this is implemented just couple of months after suggesting it - the feature is well functional with various options, thanks a lot Valve!

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
