DirectX is ruining everything.
I bought CoD Black Ops 2 from gamestop today and I downloaded it but everytime i click play it says there's a directx error then after if i try to click play again it says application already running. If you know how to fix this please let me know i don't want to of had to of wasted money on a game i can't play

Uninstall your video drivesr
REBOOT
resintall the latest ones (probaly the beta)

Are you sure that that's the answer? Uninstalling my video drivers doesn't sound good.

In the more recent NVIDIA drivers there's a checkbox for clean uninstalling the video driver and all settings so that anything you see afterwards is only from this new driver(Can't blame an upgrade install if you still have problems). Its completely hands off and usually works.

But what I gather is that the game is still running (check Window's TaskManager) and any attempt to update directX when a directX game is running will be thwarted. A reboot may be needed just in case you can't end-task for some reason.
