Half-Life 1 not working
I just got Half-Life, and when i try to launch it, it just goes into the HL menu wallpaper with Gordon Freeman. Then, it just randomly Exits! Please help, i've tried re-installing, and verifying the cache. It would mean alot to help, because i realy want to play this game.
Thank You

Half-Life 1 on Vista and 7 (and I presume 8 too) requires you to excempt hl.exe from one of its highly touted protection "features" called "Data Execution Prevention".
Find the System Properties control panel.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Click on the "Settings" button for "Performance"
Click on the "Data Execution Prevention" tab.
For me, I make sure DEP is enabled and then put one entry on the list. Find the hl.exe program and add it here. Then Half-Life 1 will run perfectly.
(C:\Programs and Files (x68)\steam\steamapps\<your account name>\Half-Life\hl.exe)
