Can't trade.

Issue was due to a profile name change. Turns out Steam blocks your account from trading for 4~6 hours. Thanks for the answers everyone!

All I get is a message saying "Oh noes..Sorry, some kind of error has occurred. You cannot trade with <Friend Name>"

This happens to all of the people I have in my friend list. I did successfully make a trade 2 days ago but I haven't been on this account in a few years. I did update my steam authenticator 1.5 months ago and changed my password but all of the restrictions were lifted. Could anyone tell me what could be preventing my account from being trade eligible? The only things I can think of is me logging into a new device (still can't trade with a device that I've verified over 1.5 months) and because I haven't bought anything from the steam store (I just deposited $5 into my steam account and purchased a $2.5 game).

When I navigate to https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWhyCantITrade

It just states: We've confirmed that your account,<my account id>, is currently unable to participate in trading.

you recently changed your profile name. Wait 4-6 hours to be eligible to trade again.

This undocumented cool down renews each time you change the profile name and combats profile clone bots that are used by hijackers to attempt to steal items by redirecting trades.

You won't find any official documentation about it.

The unfortunate part about the new profile name change trading cooldown (4 hour cooldown every time you change your profile name) is that page (linked below) will only state, "we have confirmed your account is unable to trade" generic message. Leaving people wondering wtf is going on.

The error while you trade during this cooldown is error (34).

It took a while earlier last year to figure out Valve silently added the new cooldown.
