Move steamapps within the same drive on Windows 11 (Steam prgramm on the same disk)
Hello,

on my new Windows 11 PC with newly installed Steam software, I want to move the games library folder on the hard drive where I installed Steam to a different directory. (Not to a second hard drive, where it works.)

On the same hard drive where I installed Steam, I want to move the "steamapps" folder to a different directory. This doesn't work in the menu, nor does it work with the "move offline" option.

I also don't want the entire Steam installation in the new folder, just the games library. Programs in the programs directory, games in the games directory. (Similar to the folder on a different partition/hard drive.)

After moving the folder to a different location, Steam won't let me select a new folder in the Storage settings. Instead, it recreates the original installation location with a subdirectory and even automatically downloads the moved "Steamworks Shared" files there.

So, how can I move the steamapps folder from the Steam installation directory to the same hard drive?

Thank you for your support

Best regards
Steffen

You could add the desired directory as a second Library with this process:

Or could look into symbolic linking.
