Content unavailable/servers unreachable
Been having a problem for about 6 months where attempting to update games gave me errors.

Content unavailable
Content servers unreachable

Both seemed to show up for whatever was trying to update games, but I could still download and run games, as well as download/update mods.

Strangely, considering the errors, Steam seems to download perfectly fine until it gets to the last few percent of the download and decides to just stop, wait for a minute or two, and then give the error.

Now I'm not able to download games anymore either.

The only thing that properly finishes downloading is the Steamworks common redistributables download.

I've tried the following multiple times:
Clearing my download cache
Changing my download region (a few times)
Deleting and reinstalling Steam
Deleting the steamapps folder
Making sure nothing is write-protected
Starting Steam as an administrator

Not really sure where else to go from here. Any help would be appreciated.

As of May 21st, 2025, Valve has updated their compression algorithm to be more CPU and I/O efficient.
This change is not compatible with old clients that could still run on Windows 7 or 8.1 and future content changes will be made using this compression algorithm, resulting in a loss of access to downloads and updates.

As Valve has ended support for Windows 7 and 8.1 since January 1st, 2024, and therefore won't update their client for the use of Windows 7 and 8.1, your officially supported options are:
* Upgrade to Windows 10 (End of Life by October 2025 unless enrolled into ESU)
* Upgrade to Windows 11
* Install Linux Mint and play Windows only games using Proton

Are you using the most recent version of Steam or do you use a legacy version of Steam?

I deleted and reinstalled Steam, so I'm using what Steam gave me. Apparently that's version 1730853000.

The most recent stable version is: 1757452101

None of those options are really available to me.

Linux Mint is available for free because it's open source software.

That's not the issue, but thank you for your help.
