why cant i add my credit card but use a different card as my preferred payment method?
I verified with the credit card, why am I being forced to make purchases with it? Steam?

You're saying two different things. First, you say you cannot change your preferred payment method, but then you say you must use the CC to purchase. Two different things. Preferred just means the default payment method, which you can change to any other payment method you have on file right before purchasing a license.

I'm able to change payment methods just fine when about to purchase something (just tested). If you're in the UK, it may be related to the online safety act.

Either way, steam support is your next destination if you can't get it to work.

Well sorry but nowhere did I say that I cannot change my preferred payment method. Steam doesn’t actually have a preferred payment method setting. It just remembers the last one you used. In my case, it doesn’t save cards at all and every time I want to switch, I have to readd the card from scratch. That’s why it feels like I’m being forced to stick with the verified credit card. Because as soon as I change my payment method steam hides all the games from me that it considers 'mature' which was borderlands 4 in this case. I added the credit card which verifies me as 'adult', why does it have to remove that verification if I want to use a different payment method?
And there is nowhere I can create a ticket with steam since any help links take you to the same useless page.

Borderlands 4 is not blocked by the mature controls thank god, some legit games are still but borderlands is still accessible.

there are 4 levels, mature, mature with nudity and so on, the 4th one which is the highest is removed without a credit card on file, borderlands comes under mature and is not blocked.

I like how you just completely ignored what I said.
Guess you answered your own question. If it just saves the last card, then of course some games will be hidden if you override that with a different card. And putting the credit card back in (do you have to make a purchase to do this? Not sure) should reveal those hidden games again. As for borderlands, it is listed as available in the UK (which is where I assume you are) and doesn’t have a restriction on it. No idea why it does not show up for you.

if not showing for you then your settings preferences for the store are wrong.
