Can I lose my saves by disabling cloud storage ?
Hi everyone,

I'm currently playing Silksong. The game didn't make any local save, everything's on the cloud (I've checked the /compatdata/1030300 folder, it's empty). As the game offers multiple endings, I'd like to make a copy of my save file to get back at this point later when I've finished the game.

So if I disable Steam cloud for this game, could I lose my save ? And is there a option to save locally AND on the cloud ?

Thanks !

Yes, you can lose your save if you disable Steam Cloud before it downloads locally. Keep it enabled, launch the game to make sure the save syncs, then back up the local file manually. Steam can’t save both locally and on the cloud at once.
But the game doesn't make any local save !

And?
Wait a minute please, I didn't understand you right. After launching the game, how can I backup a local file which doesn't exist ? You think the file would be here just when the game is launched ?

You can’t back up a file that doesn’t exist. Launch the game first to create it, then locate and copy it for backup.
Ok, if I understand it right, I launch the game, then disable the steam cloud, and it should create a local save file. I'm right now ?
You will need to find and backup the save data.
A thread from the games forum on how to do it.

Ah yeah, thanx, it appears than Silksong puts its saving files in a completely different place than my other Steam games. And that I actually have local saves.

Finding where Steam puts save files is such a mess, would be so easier if everything was at the same place...
