i have a problem with the Friends tab (and everything related to it) and Steam Support couldn’t help me
Basically, I’m having a problem with everything related to the “Friends” tab on Steam. I can’t go offline mode, I can’t view my friends list (it always shows “0 online” even though they’re active), and I can’t open messages at all, The issue happens across multiple devices but only on this account.

Here are the responses Steam Support provided.

TL;DR of Steam Support replies:
They asked me to check for any interfering programs (there aren’t any) and to reinstall Steam if that didn’t work, which I did, but the problem is still there, Their final response was basically that they don’t have a fix for it right now.

The issue is only with your account, likely something broken on Steam’s servers. The client and your devices aren’t the problem. The only solution is for Support to check internal account flags and caches; you can’t fix it yourself.
I'm having the exact same issue. Steam support's response was that I'm having network problems, which I think might be the case. Does your profile not log the games you play as well?

I searched online and tried almost every solution I could think of to solve it. Nothing worked.

One post mentioned repairing "Steamservice.exe". I gave that a try and thought it did it, but it was only a temporary solution. Restarting Steam brought the problem back and the repair command never worked again.

Here are the steps to repairing Steamservice.exe, maybe it fixes it for you:

Exit Steam > Open CMD > paste the following:
  • C:\"Program Files (x86)"\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe /repair

I'm still looking for a solution to this problem. If I happen to find a fix for it, I'll report back.

yeah steam does log my games and playtime normally. i also have the same thing, when i reinstall steam it works until i restart it, then the issue comes back. I’ve searched everywhere too and found nothing.

I’ll try the repair method you mentioned, thanks for sharing it. hopefully we can find a way to fix this cause it’s really annoying.
