Steam keeps detecting both my controller and mouse/kb at the same time.
When I play Just Cause 3 with my controller, the game detects my controller as usual, but then it switches to my mouse/kb keys. Like ABXY will turn into my keyboard keybinds. Moving my controller sticks helps cuz then it detects my controller again but if I stopped moving for more than 10 seconds, it again switches back to my keyboard keybinds. Anyway to fix this? Games lag like crazy when I constantly keep changing my input (albeit unintentionally) to the point where it becomes unplayable. My controller is an 8bitdo for anyone wondering.

Steam is having trouble keeping your controller as the primary input device and keeps switching to the keyboard and mouse. This could be due to Steam Input settings not being configured correctly or some interference with input detection. Try going into Steam’s controller settings and make sure your 8bitdo controller is set up correctly, either in Xbox or PlayStation mode depending on what it's emulating. Also, try disabling Steam Input specifically for Just Cause 3 in the game's properties, as it may be causing the input switching. Ensure your 8bitdo is in the right mode (D-input or X-input). If this doesn’t help, try reconnecting the controller after the game is launched or check for any firmware updates for your 8bitdo controller. You might also want to check if any other software is interfering with Steam’s input detection.

Im gonna be honest with you, I didnt set up any Steam input or choose my controller to be D input or X input, I just plugged in the wireless dongle and played the games. Just Cause 3 and most other games already support the controller so I didnt feel the need to enable Steam input, and Im not even sure what that does tbh. I'd also like to mention that when i turn on my controller and go to the Steam controller settings menu, I see the same controller 3 times. One is "X input #1" or something like that, which I presume is the "main one" if yk what i mean, and the other 2 are "8Bitdo Ultimate 2C wireless" that's showing twice. Since everyone was telling me to enable Steam input, i did for both Xbox and generic controller tho idrk what that does. And when I go to big picture mode, I can still see the mouse cursor in the home/library portion but not when im in game, idk if that's normal or not.
Sometimes it's as simple as the game thinking you want to switch from controller to m/kbd because it detected your mouse moved slightly or you bumped a key,l. Sometimes it's just the game flipping between the two on its own which a nudge on a stick reminds it your in controller.
