RIP Steam Curator of 5 Years...
SUMMARY

I write this in the hopes that other disappointed Steam curators may find solace in the fact that we are not alone. Maybe this will shed more light on the matter, raise more awareness, and hopefully have more curators come forth and collaborate in reaching a solution that works for all.

On the 16th of October 2025, I was made aware that my curator suddenly stopped functioning as it should... Which I understand is something that has been happening randomly to curators since as early as 2020, which was when I first started.

THE ISSUE(S)
1) Even though the "lists" feature has long ceased working for about half a year at that point, I figured I could do without it so long as I was able to continue to post reviews.

2) Then on that fateful morning, that feature too hit the fans. I am unable to pick/type new games in the search bar to post reviews for.

3) I also noticed that games I have "politely decline" will stay permanently in my pending list. Doomed to be endlessly declined.

4) Some curator descriptions and or settings refuse to be updated as well and is instead hit with an error message that they cannot be saved.

5) Linking to 3rd party services such as my YT channel also became obsolete since maybe the beginning of 2024?

WHAT STILL WORKS... BUT PROBABLY NOT FOR LONG T_T
! Now, the only features that work is that I can still receive new games and view my stats in terms of influencing my audience.

FIXES I'VE TRIED
a) I have contacted Support, but much to my dismay they have informed me that it is a lost cause... at least for now. I am in active communication with a representative, keeping them apprised of solutions compiled both from Reddit, and other Steam discussions.

b) I have cleared my download cache.

c) I have logged onto Steam via browsers, as I read that is a possible workaround

d) I have logged out of Steam!

e) I, as per the suggestion of Steam Support, disabled Family View

f) Staring at the "post a review" page for a good long while and rage clicking keys.

g) Tried to delete some reviews, as I suspected my curator was simply at capacity. It took three attempts (using the trash icon and the command itself), so this feature is also at risk of going. But it was possible to delete said review. Sadly, I was still unable to add a new review afterwards. Theory debunked!

FIXES YET TO TRY
i) A fresh uninstall and reinstall of Steam

ii) Promoting existing officers and/or adding new members to the Steam group, and having them try to post new reviews as well as test other features.

iii) Starting a petition, lols.

iv) Voodoo. Kidding, or am I?

DON'T GIVE UP, DANG IT!
Thank you for reading. The fact that this happened during the brunt and heat of Halloween month... is perhaps the most unsettling part of all. I wish everyone the best in recovering and restoring what is left of their Steam curators. However, if this is truly the end, I just wanted to say thanks for all the good memories. I had a dream once of being a full-time reviewer and Steam curators was an integral part in making that happen.

Good thing, I did not, haha. Yeah, I could always just start again and create a new Steam group, yadda 3x. But it could be a blessing in disguise as I am now a full-time voice actor instead. Have a great day everyone~

TLDR;
Steam curator slowly died in terms of its features. Was told it's pointless at least for now. Currently, I reached out to Steam support for the 3rd time and we are exchanging more evidence and they assured me they have forwarded my screenshots to the developers.

Sincerely,
Chen Ying

Oh, that sounds really frustrating, especially after you've spent so much time curating on Steam. It's tough when something you've invested so much effort into suddenly breaks down, and even worse when the support team isn't providing much help or clarity.

It seems like you've already tried all the usual fixes recommended by the community, but none of them have worked. The issues with posting reviews, updating settings, and managing game lists suggest a deeper problem with Steam’s curator system. Could this be related to broader changes they’ve made to the platform recently? It would be nice if Steam acknowledged the issue and gave curators an update on when it might be fixed.

The fact that games you’ve declined are stuck in the pending list is especially odd. It feels like there’s a bug in their system that they haven’t ironed out yet, and it’s causing a lot of inconvenience.

And the timing with Halloween is just the cherry on top. This could have been the perfect opportunity to engage with your audience, share spooky game recommendations, and so on but instead, your curator page is acting like it’s haunted by glitches.

I really hope Steam addresses these problems soon for you and all other curators affected. If you get any updates from support or the community, feel free to let me know. I'd love to hear how it goes.

I appreciate you for taking the time to check this out, and for offering your sympathies...! It helps more than you might think. And to think, this Steam curator could have been my sole focus and purpose in life, which would have been more soul crushing! Fortunately, it is not.

Also, I agree, something is seriously fudged up here and it is baffling why Steam isn't especially interested in addressing this when it can only serve to benefit them in making more money and bring in traction to the developers. Win-win-win!

(Granted, I am a guppy curator in a sea of especially influential sharks, but still. I bet the whales aren't having any issues there. Just sayin')

And absolutely, you'll be the first to know. Thanks again, and I bid you good day~

You have MY support! Rage against the corporate machine!!

It's how things get done apparently these days, gotta play the game-!
I can't post reviews on mine.
Surely curator pages help their sales.
What gives?

That user just copy / pasted your post into an Ai and then posted the AI response here. I doubt they read your post at all.

Their comment is 100% Ai, not written by human. Please don’t give awards to people who are using Ai to respond

Precisely my sentiment...! Glad you agree, maybe they are secretly doing a cleanse of sorts?

Get rid of the smaller curators? So far, I don't think any big name curators with loads of traction have been affected. HMMM.

It is terrible... Like a vigilante for Steam curators is out there- digitally shutting down each one.

I hope it doesn't happen to any more of us. SIGHS!

You're right, I can see it right now. The neutral and reassuring manner in which it was formulated...!

Apologies, I was quite a mess last night and emotionally fatigued. Won't happen again!

At least it is better than the artificial stupid bots of Valve's support.
