Steam keeps asking to make changes to my device.
Ok so everytime I go to open a game on steam it asks me "Do you want this app to make changes to your device?" It's been doing this for two days. I'm assuming it's safe to press "yes".

Yup, absolutely safe.

All software distrubuted here is tested fully for viruses etc.

Just take care to not get in the habit of clicking without reading so you don't inadvertently do it for something not from Steam.

Normally it'll be just for games you've installed.

it's not steam, it's windows that's asking because of your User Access Control (UAC) settings

Yes, this is why. If there are multiple people that use that pc your using, it maybe the adminstrator of that pc that set that up. You can and should allow steam to do it otherwise it will not work.

Can we change this setting so we don’t have to click yes every time ?
Like people told you, it is safe and common in case of Steam. Just take care when this happens with programs from unknown sources.

Yes. Go to the Start menu and find: Change User Account Control

Then you will see the second line level from the top: Don't notify me when I make changes to Windows settings.

Now, be careful not to go to any shady places if you do change this option or go even lower than that second line level toggle switch which can be deadly.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
