Music Player is playing the wrong song.
Hi all,

I've been having an issue for a while now where I want to listen to one of the soundtracks I've purchased, and when I click the first song in the list, it will instead pick a different song and play that. For example, I wanted to listen to the first song in 'Disc 1' of the Long Dark OST, but when I clicked it it instead began playing the first song in 'Disc 4'. It's a consistent issue, I've tried verifying soundtrack integrity. More over, this is an issue that's happened across two different computers, neither of which was ever connected to the other.

I've looked around on the forums for any information that might help me fix this, but I couldn't find anything on this specific issue. If there is a post I'd greatly appreciate a link to it. If there isn't, I'd just as much appreciate any help I can get to fix the issue. It's not a 'game breaking' bug by any means, but it is rather annoying, y'know?

Which game is this from? Did you make sure to ask in the forum for the specific game this music is from? Alot of times you can also access the developers website or email on their game pages. You could ask them via the game page on steam. Ive done this with several games on here and some even fixed the issues i pointed out. I suggest going to the game store page and look on the right of it. Look for WEBSITE. It should take you to the developers website.

It's not just this particular game, I've had it happen with every other OST I try to listen to.

EDIT: To clarify, these are all the OST's I currently have downloaded, I've had the same problem with all of them

Long Dark Soundtrack Volumes 1 and 2
Stellaris
Starbound
DEFCON
ARMA 3
ARMA 3 Creator DLC: SOG Prairie Fire

i have the same issue with the stellaris soundtrack. I click on "faster than light" and it doesnt play the requested song. the names are out of order with different songs
Okay, so I figured out what's going on here. This is a bug in the Steam Player when a soundtrack has multiple disks. Steam plays them in alphabetical order rather than Discography order.

So my workaround for this is to go to the local files (Right Click > Manage > Browse local files) then rename the folders in the Soundtrack folder.

In my case I have "Music for The Long Dark -- Volume One" and the order of the folders was:
SURVIVAL - Ambient
WINTERMUTE - Ambient
WINTERMUTE - Episode One
WINTERMUTE - Episode Two

So I renamed them to:
Disk 4 - SURVIVAL - Ambient
Disk 3 - WINTERMUTE - Ambient
Disk 1 - WINTERMUTE - Episode One
Disk 2 - WINTERMUTE - Episode Two

Problem solved!!

Hope this helps somebody else out there!
