Games suddenly recognize Dualshock as Xbox controller
I've played several games with Dualshock 4, but suddenly the games think it's an Xbox controller. The only exceptions are games that haven't been ported to Xbox, and Crash Bandicoot NSane Trilogy which has never recognized the controller as Dualshock for some reason.

All the games have Xbox controllers blocked via the Steam controller settings for each game (I'm not sure what it's called in English, but right click game -> properties -> controller), but it doesn't help. It doesn't matter what option I choose in the settings, the games still think it's an Xbox controller. Steam itself recognizes it correctly.

I haven't always had this issue, so was there an update or something that messed this up? Is there anything I can do to fix this? Please.

I wish it always used my Dualshock as an Xbox controller. I got the Xbox buttons memorized better than the Playstation ones by now. Most games will use Xbox buttons be default, but some games don't and if they don't have a specific setting ingame to change it, I don't think there is a way to change it manually, as Steam automatically picks the right kind of controller...

But why did this start suddenly? It has always shown PS buttons before except on Crash

For me it has almost never shown PS buttons. It depends entirely on the games you're playing. Steam has only gotten better at recognizing which controller you're using, but it still depends on the games which buttons they are showing you. If they don't have PS buttonprompts in the game, you won't get them, no matter what controller Steam is showing.

I would prefer to just be able to select which controller layout it should be using myself, instead of having it done automatically, as I would actually prefer the "wrong" buttonprompts.

Yeah? The games I play (except Crash) have always showed PS buttons until now, that is the issue I have and I don't know what has happened.

Detroit Become Human has shown PS buttons until now.

The Quarry has shown PS buttons until now.

Crash NST probably should show PS buttons since Xbox controller is blocked, but has never shown but fortunately the buttons are pretty irrelevant anyway.

I have no idea then. If you didn't change any settings, there is no reason for it to suddenly change. If someone more knowledgable actually knows if there is some way to manually change these things nowadays, that would also interest me. Some years ago, you could actually chose the layout in bigpicture mode yourself and simply map all the buttons as you wanted them to be. Nowadays it does all that automatically. You can still remap all the buttons to your liking, however I am unable to change the PS4 controller layout to an xbox layout in there. I wish to simply click the pictures of the different controllers above the layouts to just switch whatever I want to be used.
