Can I ask Steam to create me a CD Key for a game I got on Epic Games?
I am asking this due to the fact I asked EA to give me a CD Key for Spore since I bought it on Steam and they did give me one. I can tell it ain't exactly the same as the case I am asking right now. The game on Epic Games is Borderlands 2, which I got for free a long darn time ago. The reason I even want the game on Steam is mainly because Steam is just more comfortable and stable most of the time.

You will need to buy it on steam if you want to do that as that's how it works when playing the game on a different game platform.
You would have to ask either Gearbox or 2k, not Steam.

Reply back.... most likely yes.
Get a free key.... unlikely.

But you at least have a chance with the devs or publishers.

Valve cannot just giveaway someone else's game. Unless they want to flip the bill for it. Which they 100% won't do.
They won't, especially when they already had a free giveaway back in June 2025 for BL2.

In general if you want a game on that platform, you buy it on that platform. This isn't some free for all where the stores don't matter and the publisher is going to give you a second free license.

I mean your scenario is completely different. And whatever EA does may not be the same thing 2K does. Nor does it mean something working once will work in the future anytime you want free keys for different launchers.

Gearbox aren’t going to give you a free key, the only reason EA gave you a key is because EA CD Keys on Steam also used to work to activate a free copy on Origin too, but it stopped after EA left Steam in 2011.
