It is highly likely your friend account was hijacked, scammers do no use their own accounts to scam others but rather accounts they have stolen. By you reporting the account, steam would have locked the account down which gives the original owner chance to recover it back before any further damage can be done to the account..
A scammer never uses their own account as it would be traceable.
Reporting the account locks it from being used again by the scammer.
Calm down. They were on my friend's list. They are not my friend.
They tried to hack my account. Of all accounts, the most unforgivable one to attempt to hack is mine.
Nx Machina makes a fantastic point. If someone has an account that gets hacked and then used by scammers, it is their fault.
When I fell for their attempt to scam me I changed my pw IMMEDIATELY.
I have no respect for those who do not protect what is theirs.
And I'm not asking Valve to operate on my schedule or generate the outcomes I expect.
I'm expecting them to operate on a reasonable schedule and generate the outcome that is correct and fair.
