It is for adult only sexual content and being able to view the store pages and forums of those games.

If there's content that you want that requires age verification and you're not able to verify your age, then you can't get that content. At that point your choice is going to be shop at another store that offers age verification you can meet.

Just keep in mind the likely only reason UK uses aren't just universally restricted from adult content on Steam, like German users are, is because credit cards are a valid means of age verification in the UK law and Valve already handles credit cards. If the UK was to remove credit cards from being able to count as age verification then likely Valve wouldn't replace it with something else. And in the same token, not having a credit card now doesn't compel Valve to offer alternatives. The current requirements are clear, and you either meet them or you don't.

But only time will confirm some of these things, whether Valve will do additional work with age verification. I mean it is possible if there's a avalanche of similar laws being passed and not offering age verification becomes a significant issue that Valve will bite the bullet. But at the moment Valve seems fine if UK and German users aren't able to buy adult content.

Not just those types of games, other games are now blocked including some horror games, i cant even view the page to purchase them now without verifying age with a credit card i don't have. I have now bought the game on a different store which did verify my age with just a quick pic, job done and no need for credit cards. not going to get or use a credit card for gaming, i'll just get all my future purchases elsewhere and play the games i have on steam until completed then ditch steam.

I can view horror and other game genres and purchase them on Steam.

I cannot see any adult only sexual content because i do not have my credit card attached to my account, nor have i ever being interested in purchasing any.

Since when are horror games censored? It's only ever been sex games. Although, to be honest, I don't know why they think horror games with excessive blood is fine but sex isn't. I mean, the blood will likely be a lot worse for the health of a child's mind than sex will ever be. Think about the trauma seeing scary things will do to a child's mind. Think about what sex will do. Sex, unlike horror, is a natural part of life. They're going to learn about it at some point anyway. I'm not saying five year olds should see sexual content but I am saying that learning about something that's 100% natural isn't nearly as dangerous as seeing people literally lose their heads in war or to a monster. If they really want to censor things, at least censor the things that make sense. Why are we so concerned about sex content when there are so many other things that should also be censored? Why do we only care about sex? As if that's the only thing that'll harm children
