Buy stuff or have points awarded to you. Although one would think the main point of a game store is to sell games. So for most people they're going to have points as a side effect.

Anyone not wanting to buy games, but also wants to tinker with their profile... may not be a demographic of concern.

There's other ways, but it's not a noble way to earn Steam points and that is posting or leave troll comments on Steam discussion.

How do I get Steam Points?

Whenever you make a purchase on Steam, you'll be given Steam Points based on how much you spend. First, we convert this amount to USD, which then converts directly to the number of points you receive.

You will not receive any points for funding your Steam Wallet or for any Steam Community Market purchases.

You can also get Steam Points if someone from the community grants an award to one of your user reviews or other uploaded content such as screenshots, videos, guides, or Workshop items.

Yeah but who normal would donate his points to some random guy like me so that is a option but not the real one

people do this all the time which is why clown farming (jester awards) by ragebait/memeposting is a thing

The awards are meant to give users who contribute to the community with helpful forum posts, insightful reviews, detailed guides, awesome screenshots or artwork, etc. Sometimes users have more points than they know what to do with and just give them out like candy at Halloween through awards.

None of it is a guarantee like buying things through the Store, though. Some have been able to harvest a lot of points by buying in-game items like CS capsules and then reselling those capsules on the market. They get the points from the purchase and then recoup most of the item cost through the market sale.

Please don't bait for awards though or try through low effort means. We have enough of those people already.
