You wait for the remainder of your year, or somehow make amends and rejoin the prior family.

Once you join the family, the 1-year clock starts. It's not when you leave. So if you joined the family 6 months ago, you only have 6 more months to go before being able to join another. On the flipside, your slot in their family is also reserved for you for that time period as well. They can't use your slot for anyone else until the year expires. If that's any consolation.

she knows and she even stayed with him in a period of 1 month while we broke up (note that i did messed up stuff too, so we're kinda even and super happy at the moment). The three friends wouldn't belive me even if i had recorded proof, they are so devoted to him it could become a cult.
