SSD keeps crashing periodically
I have the SanDisk 1TB Extreme Portable External SSD and any games I have on there will start up fine but then just shut down after 30 minutes or so. The computer itself doesn't crash, it just stops the game and I just log back in.

I thought this was a Steam compatibility issue as BGIII on Steam would do this (and Ive seen user reviews say there is an issue there), but Split Fiction through EA was doing this as well.

How do I fix this? I've been using my system's drive for games that i can't afford to log out in halfway through the game but Im running of space on the drive and that's affecting PC performance overall.

Are we sure it's truly a 1TB drive? There's been quite a few reports of fakes out there.

Run a health and performance test on the ssd and do not let it get too full as that's not good for ssd's and make sure the cable is fine or the ssd is not overheating.

Also check the power settings to make sure the ssd is running if it keeps happening at the same time.

If possible try getting a normal ssd if your motherboard can use them.

Have you actual turn off powersafe, most external drive use it , it s a well know issue from the past that its like common knowledge if you have been a PC user for decades.
