I hate living in 1984
So if your credit score is too low to get a credit card or you get one declined because you're unemployed you're just screwed. Welcome to CCP UK.
When I try to view adult content, it tells me to add a card. So I add the card, it says it's successful and £1 get's removed from my bank... however, when I try to view the adult content after adding the card, it just takes me back to the page where it asks to add a card.
When I do, I can see my card in the drop down list... I select it, choose continue and... yeah, back to the Add Credit Card screen.
I'm just going around in circles. I've lost money AND I still can't view the content I want. I've contacted Steam support and on Twitter X, so we'll see.
EDIT: So some people here are saying that Debit Cards don't work? Yet it still takes money out of our banks for verification? As I said above, definitely sounds like theft!
UK has gone insane
As a adult it took me ages when i first ordered a credit card. Simply becaus it cost atleast 50€ a year and just could pay with debit cards. However when i needed something online i needed a Credit card. But these days its not always neccesary anymore. Well its now neccesary again, the world is running backwards.
Would't be suprised Visa & mastercard are working close with the goverment to increase sales/cardholders...
So in the UK also no giftcards anymore?
They aren't taking any money. It's just an authorization to verify that the account is valid and will drop off in a few days.
Debit cards don't work because they are frequently available to teens (13-17) while credit cards are usually only allowed to be issued to people 18+.
It seems you are correct sir... just checked my bank and there are no withdrawals of £1. So that's one good thing at least.
Still pretty obscene that credit card identification is the only way to prove your age. Severely limiting the amount of people who can purchase certain content on Steam if they don't have a credit card.
