Steam Randomly Blanking Desktop Shortcuts

So, every once in a while steam will just... randomly replace one of my desktop shortcuts with a blank icon.
Today it replaced ALL of my desktop shortcuts for steam games and apps with a blank paper icon.
I've tried pretty much everything atp from regenerating icon cache to deleting the shortcut and adding a new one through the library just places down a blank icon again.
Any ideas?

it's windows that causes it as the shortcuts are not traditional shortcuts, they are web shortcuts which usually show the icon from a cache, not the standard icon cache. i have had the same issue so just created an actual shortcut from the main game folder and renamed it.

i get the same issue sometimes with epic games shortcuts as they are similar.

Other then you did it and cause issue with it. require you know how URL is working and location of icon.

start learn to use steams collection and home lig view ( games coverboxes )

if you do not backup pc or where its icon is nothing can prevent you from not lose all them .icon files this is fact sooner or later your drive will burnout someday even that is a fact.

Any tech person can tell you this.

i see no point in help with gow to fix iocon anymore, several gameclient use cover box view only so its almost been a standard today.

Other way to say it stop use windows desktop icon , unless game is modded with scrpt extender or things like that. ( there is no way windows desktop or folde rhandle 500 games icon or more. so even i wish somebother to tell me this then i did not know better.

the soone you learn steam so call new ways the better you are with new ways it has to be.

see guides in dynamic library while yuo are at it, no more sorting title when tags do it for you.

require other steam user bother to dare tell you this .

what most forget here icon is outdate many old games do not have large icons in the first place, so it was already broken way before steam was a main stream client with large icons and steam do not fix game devs missing icon to old games so yes its a old windows user issue from past game apps. ( not fixable ) you have to edit it everytime.

Yeah... sucks that I have to do it for each one individually

Yeah... sucks that I have to do it for each one individually

My Minecraft icons from the MS store also went blank for a few weeks due to a Windows update last month. They did return after this months Windows update though.
