Helldivers 2 gifting problem
So Helldivers 2 ban has been lifted like a month or so ago and I wanna gift it to a friend . It is available in his region's store but when I try to gift it to him, it would say that it is unavailable in his region. I don't want to send a gift card because of conversion problems not being the right amount. I'm from JP and he is from PH. Is there a fix to this?

Probably because cross region gifting is disabled.

If you want to gift him the game, you'll have to purchase a CD key for him that works worldwide or in his specific region.

Never trust third party sites.
Japan is excluded from gifting outside of Japan because they got their own regional version thanks to Sony.

I have spent over £500 on CDkeys and have been using them for years, havent had a single issue.

The problem with that logic is a lot of people end up with, "I never had a problem, until I did".

And no one is trying to negate your personal experience. And no one claiming every transaction has a 99% failure/sketch rate. However, when issues do occur, and they do occur on grey market sites, it can be quite a hassle to sort out. Often times the grey market site is reluctant to refund and seems to default to sending the customer on a wild goose chase maybe in the hopes they'll give up or just blame Valve for not providing the requested information about someone else's game.

It's definitely a use at your own peril situation that's usually not apparent until something occurs. If you're lucky you never have a problem. And if not you will have a problem that you wouldn't have had if you had bought from a more legitimate retailer. From there it's really up to you to weigh whether the past benefits/savings are worth the occasional bogus/revoked key or other hassle.

Some people say no, lesson learned. Other people might feel differently.

Luckily my country has consumer rights, so every key that is available for sale in my country has to follow this rule or they will risk a lawsuit. If you live in a trash country with no consumer rights then yes the websites are probably sketchy, but luckily for me the companies that I buy keys from have a legal obligation to give me a fully working product, hence why I havent had issues.

There are plenty of legitimate and authorized key sellers to purchase keys from outside of Steam. That is just not true in this case.

CDKeys is considered a grey market seller and not an authorized one. It is use at your own risk and generally not recommended.

Well, lots of places have consumer rights. And no one is saying there's no recourse. And by hassle, I would group having to get consumer rights and a lawsuit involved over sub $60 purchases is a hassle, and takes a bit of time.

You're gonna go back and forth with the site for a number of emails over a few days. You're gonna spend hours dealing with this before you even get to the point of contacting whatever consumer rights agency you have, or a lawyer.

I dunno about you, it sounds like a lot of hassle for a game. And in theory your consumer protections sounds great until you actually have to do something that takes longer than writing a paragraph crowing about your protections.

It's not a one button, five minute resolution no matter where you are. I think you're overestimating your success so far and are so eager to negate the possibility of their being a problem you're going to say anything to gloss over the issues.

You can simply contact your bank and dispute the payment lol, its not that hard, I have done it for various things in the past. The previous users statement of ''Never trust third party sites'' is absurd. If you get scammed its your own fault entrirely, only purchase from retailers with a positive reputation online, ie high user reviews, (I only purchase from 4.5-5 star rated sellers on trust pilot) and do your own research. If the website accepts lots of common payments such as bank, paypal etc then theres a high chance its legit. If the site is 1 week old, has low reviews and only accepts crpyto then its most likely a scam. CDKey sites will and always have been a reputable source for digital games. Dont hate on them just because you are too fearful to use them lmao.

CDkeys is not a grey market seller, their payments are 100% secure, they have been around for many years and they have extremely high trust pilot reviews, currently at 4.8/5 stars out of 200,000+ reviews.

To my knowledge, they are key resellers. They do not obtain keys directly from developers. Thus, they are considered grey market regardless of their security or reliability.
I'm really relieved that a lot of people are putting their thoughts into this. I looked into the CDkeys and the payment methods are a drag and I didn't want tor register at their sites. so in the end, I just sent them gift cards. Less hassle for a little bit more money(they ended up having extra since steam wont let us gift a specific amount). Time was an issue as well. Thank you so much everyone

For the digital gift cards, custom amounts over the minimum allowed to purchase, use this guide...
