This may come as a shock, but Epic doesn't care much for Steam. So it would not surprise me if they did something that broke what you're trying to do.

Maybe try reddit, and game own sub forum on steam maybe get lucky if someone knows the answer.

Does adding game .exe as non steam game not working? Have you tried running Steam as admin, then launch it, as could be permission thing.

If something broke, or preventing Steam overlay from hooking into the game then not much can be done.

I still have Rocket League downloading but for just the EG launcher things all seemed OK -Steam launches it and knows it's running, and EGL stays running.

What do you mean by Steam not able to keep EGL open? You see EGL launch but then it closes?

Also what's the Target and Launch Option for your non-Steam shortcut?

Got RL installed. Things were fine for me - Steam launching/running EG Launcher (minimised to system tray) --> RL, getting Steam Input controller support in RL.


Target:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Binaries\Win32\EpicGamesLauncher.exe"


Launch Options:

Have you found a fox for this? I am having a similar issue with Fortnite right now. Steam input was working before I updated the launcher but after the update Fortnite isn't registering any controller.

we have the same issue...theres nothing to do. last time this happened steam overlay started working 3 to 5 days later. It used to happen every time fortnite or epic had an update, but this time around theres been an update plus i think epic changed their terms of service...hope theyre not trying to block steam users.

They do not and why people come to steam to complain about epic because they can't complain on epic forums and think epic issues will be fixed here somehow.

They used to, but deleted their forum, moved it all to discord, it was a hot mess, and spam chat people until things settle down, years later Discord added a forum like on their platform, which Epic jumped to added it to their fortnite channel, that became their forum.

So no they don't have same forum as Steam, it's using Discord own sub forum system in chat channel. Even then most people don't know, or bother because it not a widely used on Epic as it seems from what I seen.

Valve ought to bill Epic for the traffic costs every time people get stuck arguing about Sweeney’s latest disaster here on Steam.

Never could get controllers to work in any games while just in epic. I found this
out after I had bought WWZ, then I learned of the fix with Steam, all controllers
worked on all games. epic update has ruined that, no controller works now
through Steam, they never worked using just epic, what a shame.
Side note : it would be nice if epic got it's sh t together with
controller capability
