Bug report – Games excluded via user-defined tags still appear in the store
Dear Steam Team,

I would like to report a bug concerning the content exclusion feature based on user-defined tags. Although I have configured my account to exclude certain games using specific tags (e.g., "Survival", "FPS", "Multiplayer Online"), I continue to see titles matching these criteria in the store.

This issue undermines the effectiveness of the user personalization system and defeats the purpose of the filtering function, which is meant to prevent unwanted content from appearing. I have verified that my settings are correctly saved in my profile, yet the problem persists both on the homepage and in recommendations.

I kindly ask you to investigate this issue and provide feedback. A reliable filtering system is essential to ensure a consistent experience that respects individual preferences.

Thank you for your attention and for your continued efforts to improve the platform.

Best regards,

Hi, thanks for getting back to me!

Yes, the titles I mentioned are currently visible on the main store page. What I’m really trying to understand is how they’re being surfaced through tags. I’ve noticed that some games show up prominently under certain tag categories, while others — even with similar content and correctly applied tags — don’t appear at all or are buried much deeper.

Since I’m working with tags quite a bit, I’m curious if there’s any logic behind how visibility is determined. Is there a ranking system, or maybe some threshold that affects whether a title shows up under a tag?

Any insight would be super helpful. Thanks again!

The main store page is not customisable for you as an end user.
