UK - Online Safety Act (OSA) - Access to 'adult' and 'mature' content
I am having problems finding adult games in the search engine in the Steam Store. The search tells me that a given number of titles have been excluded from the hitlist but I'm not allowed to see them or get access to them.

It gives me a link to edit my store preferences but the store preferences are already set to allow adult content.

I have had an account for a number of years and the Steam support page states that, provided that I have a valid credit card (or presumably a debit card) stored on the system, it is assumed, for the purposes of the OSA, that I am over 18.

I have a Visa prepaid debit card which allows me to transfer funds to my Steam wallet - Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards won't allow it.

As I have said above, I have ticked the boxed for mature content in the 'store preferences' but I am still unable to find 'adult' content.

What am I doing wrong? Has Mary Whitehouse finally won from the grave??

You need a credit card.
It has to be a credit card. Debit cards are not accepted as you can get one from the age of 16.

What are you on about? You can add funds to your wallet using a normal credit or debit card. I've done it myself many times over the years.
Ok everyone. Thank you.

I have used my debit card to pay for games on Steam for donkey's years and I couldn't figure out how or why it wouldn't work.

In the UK no-one under the age of 16 is competent to sign a contract so I couldn't see how a person under 18 could have a debit card (I figured there must be some sort of contract involved).

It does mean that I have to do a Lazarus on one of my credit cards but needs must when the Devil drives.

You can have a debit card from age 11+ in the UK.

Many banks offer accounts for children aged 11 and over, which come with a debit card. A parent or guardian will usually need to apply for the account on their behalf and may also need to be an existing customer with the bank.
