Ragebait comments and clown awards.

I am not sure where to post this, but I have a request/suggestion.

The fact is, ragebait comments are infesting all games comment sections, and it is really tiresome.
This only happens because the clown award give them points, which in essence does not even make sense...

My suggestion is that the person who receive a clown award DO NOT receive any points for it (ence there is no reason to ragebait others), whilst the one who gives the clown award still loses their points (to avoid an avalanche of clown awards when a comment is disliked).

In all honesty, I do think this is the only way to eliminate those annoying ragebait comments all over the comments sections.
If you want evidences, just open the comments section of any game, specially the most known games.

Please consider this hardly, and make this suggestion reaches who can really make a difference.

Just like all other suggestions regarding the Jester reward, this one is also terrible

Awards in general were a mistake. It turned the forums into a point-farming circlejerk like reddit. Reviews for games are also filled with the same crap.

Because users use the "clown award" as a means of mocking, isolating, and discrediting user posts.

Clown awards can be farmed by trolls, and infamously those points are turned around and used for more clowning applied to legitimate posts. Some users have openly posted on STEAM forums about utilizing this feature for exactly this purpose, advertising their love of receiving and giving the awards to achieve socially manipulative ulterior motives.

Removing point reward - which can and has absolutely already been done in individual instances by specific individuals within Steam or it's third party associates - promotes this use of the award system for harassment and social abuses. Via your proposed method users who can earn unending points from a multitude of accounts - or who frequently use multiple accounts or user groups to manipulate discussion - would only be better equipped to silence the rest of us.

Removing "awards" that are used as a way to mock or discredit other users would be the appropriate way to handle this.

Your suggestion is in support of troll users who can make as many accounts as they please and actively against legitimate communities and social function usage of STEAM

wow, I really did not get your point! How would this really support trolls?? trolls are the ones making the raigebait comments and they would not get points, so losing the incentive on making stupid comments on almost all games chats... so...

Yeah, true!
But there are some awards that do capture your attention on a comment amongst many others, and sometimes you do notice in a very good comment or idea due to that.
But yes, I get your point, in fact I would prefer that then the current situation, with copy-paste ragebait posts for clown farmings.
